Chemical hair straightener [please read] ?

My hair is very healthy, but my natural texture is very wavy. In the summer and spring, it becomes curly and I love it. But other times, it's just wavy and hard to maintain an actual style with it.

Last year, I bought a thermal Chemical Straightener for it at Sally's beauty supply for about 40 bucks.

It made my hair silky and smooth and very very straight.

I barely ever used heat tools on it. I didn't really have to.

But, for 40 bucks, it didn't last very long, I had to do it at least twice a month. ( there's two applications in each kit ) So I would buy about two kits every month.

I just moved to my new location and i found a day spa that offers what they call "Chemical Straightening"

I've heard that this would fry my hair and I definatly do not want that.

The straightener costs $90 and I also read that professional jobs last for at least a few months.

In your own opinion, do you think I should try it?

Or do you think it will cause damage to my hair?

that's a relaxer, not a chemical straightener. no chemical straightener would ever be that cheap, the cheapest is about $250, anywhere. a relaxer will react badly with the chemical straightener in your hair already, your hair will actually start to fall out. don't do it, just get yourself a good straightener, try a chi or a biosilk, i can email you a coupon for 20% off jcpenney salon products, they sell both irons. the biosilk is my personal fav, it's made by chi, exactly the same except it can heat up more, and $50 cheaper.

If you dont dye your hair, I would suggest you try it. If any, the damage is not much, or noticible. Maybe a little drier but it depends on how thick or thin your hair is. If you dye your hair definately NO. The dye and the straightening chemicals together will definately fry and damage your hair. Good luck!

I have curly hair also i have always wanted this done..... my moms bestfriend is a master barber from phoenix we have been going to her for 12.5 yrs....... i had brought it up a couple times and she said that it will fry your hair but yet it might not happen if you take care of your hair..... if i was to get this done she said that i should only use salon shampoo and conditioner such as joioco.. my niece had got her hair chemically straightened and she uses joioco shampoo and conditioner and her hair is beautiful.... If you take good care of your hair GO get it done.... and buy this shampoo and conditioner your hair should be just the way you want it!!!
