my hair stylist said its really bad for your hair, but i used to use it and i loved it, it made my hair feel smooth and healthy, but i stopped using it because she said it was bad???

I've heard the same thing from every hair stylist I've ever been to over the years! I think it may have something to do with the amount/type of alcohol in the product (which can dry out and damage hair over time). Most products have alcohol, though... and hair is really just dead cells... so there's not too many products that can actually give "life" to hair!

If Pantene works for you, then maybe it's ok for you! It doesn't work on my hair.... it dried it out, over time. (And my X-husband used it all the time, and his hair got thinner and courser. Was it the Pantene? Who knows?)

I heard that, too. But it can't be worse that V05 or Suave, right? I used to love Pantene ProV and the older version of Finesse for their scents. The hair stylist just wants you to buy Redken, Biolage, or Paul Mitchell, or some sh*t like that. Paul Mitchell's Awapuhi does smell good, though. Hmm, I'm gonna go to the salon now...

It depends. Pantene does have a chemical in it called Panthenol, which can dry out ETHNIC hair. That is why they have introduced the Relaxed and Natural line. If it made your hair FEEL good then don't stop using it simply because of what someone else said. Stylist or not, that is her opinion.Everyone has DIFFERENT hair so it might have been bed for HER hair.

Shampoo is not 'bad' for your hair, that was a very simplistic statement on your hairdressers part. She was probably trying to encourage you to buy shampoo from the salon or a beauty supply store. It's true that products from a beauty supply store in general do a better job for your hair, but there is some reasonably decent stuff at drug stores. If you like the pantene and it works for you, then use it. My sister in law owns a salon and I get gifts of very nice hair products for all occasions, plus I buy things through her sometimes. I've gotten salon products I didn't like (not many though) and also use drug store products that I find that work because they are cheap. My sister in law herself uses hair products she gets in bulk at the health food store, and she has a few lines she carries right in her store. If you like it and you like the way it makes your hair feel and you don't get dried out ends, use it.

Are you talking about shampoo? I decided a while ago to quit using shapoos with Sodium Laureth/Lauryl Sulfate, and pretty much all shampoos have that ingredeint. (sometimes it is first on the ingredient list, sometimes right after aqua) It is a very strong detergent that removes not just dirt but your natural hair shine that protects your hair.

So Pantene cant be much worse than most shampoos out there.

If your hair is dry try finding a gentle SLS free shampoo (in a health store maybe?) or do as I and wash your hair with siliconefree -conditioner twice, instead of using shampoo. First few times, it didnt work so well, but now my hair turns so clean that I dont know why I ever shampood it...

I tend to think that hairstylists will bash other products mostly to push the expensive stuff the salon sells...I have long hair past my rear and all I use is Aussie..( since I was in my teens) it smells great and leaves your hair light, soft and shiny. They have alot of varieties for your hair type and desired effect ( ie: volume, moisture) Then you can finish it up with Aussie hairstyling products. I tried Pantene myself and it felt unclean to me..so back to Aussie I went....
